GM Uzbekistan is to start production of a new M300 model

From August 2010 Joint venture GM Uzbekistan is starting mainstream production of a new Chevrolet model – SPARK.
By now Asaka-based automotive plant has produced 11 samples of SPARK model, which are being tested.
Total cost of the project is around US$124.455 million. The annual production capacity is 50,000 cars, 40 per cent of which will be exported.

Joint venture GM Uzbekistan, with statutory fund of $ 266.7 million, was set up in March 2008 on the basis of UzDaewooAvto stock company. General Motors company owns 25 percent of the shares whereas “Uzavtoprom” possesses 75 percent of shares in the joint venture. The capacity of the venture is 250,000 cars per year. The cars are sold in Uzbekistan as well as exported to other countries. Currently the venture manufactures various car models: Nexia, Matiz, Damas, Lacetti, Epica и Captiva.
From 2012 GM Uzbekistan plans to expand its export markets for Nexia и Matiz which meet the Euro-4 ecological standards. By now there have been completed the tests on car performance in hot and cold climatic conditions of Russia.
