This year the construction of 79-km highway between Samarkand and Karshi is to be completed. The highway plays an important role in economic and social development of Samarkand, Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya provinces as this arterial road opens up possibilities for transit to southern destinations- Turkmenistan, Afganistan, Iran, Pakistan and the countries of Persian Gulf with access to the seaports.
