The new minicar Chevrolet Spark (Matiz М 300) has been premiered in Tashkent. The sales of Chevrolet Spark in domestic car market started from August 26, 2010.

Chevrolet Spark is to be manufactured with two configurations of DOHC petrol engine: 1.0 litre displacement engine with power output of 68 ph at 6400 rpm and 1.2 litre displacement engine making 81 hp at 6400 rpm.

Spark is supported with 5-speed manual transmission. The model with 1.0 litre engine is also available with automatic transmission. The car consumes 5.5 liters of fuel at the speed of 90 km/h, and 7.6 litres working in the city regime.

With safety bags and high-strength steel car body, Spark received the highest safety mark in its segment: it was awarded four stars during European standards EuroNCAP crash tests.

The new car model is the smallest Chevrolet ever. Because of aggressive body graphics of front bumper, cambered dipping line of windowsills and impressive relief of the sides, this 5-door hatchback looks bigger than its predecessor Matiz.

The length of automobile increased by 145 mm and wheelbase grew by 35 mm. Total cost of the project for Chevrolet Spark model line production accounts US$124.455 million. Joint venture GM Uzbekistan plans to produce 50,000 cars annually, including 20,000 units intended for export.
