MAN trucks are to be assembled in Samarkand

Stock company “Uzavtosanoat” (Uzbekistan) and MAN Truck & Bus company (Germany) launched the construction of a new heavy commercial vehicle manufacturing plant.

In the environs of Samarkand there took place the foundation stone ceremony when a special capsule was buried in the foundation of the JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan production complex.
In the framework of the project first stage in 2011-2013 it is planned to construct assembly shop, paint shop and diagnostic centre with annual capacity of 6,000 units of MAN heavy haulers and chassis by introducing two-shift work (with possibility to increase the capacity up to 10,000 units), as well as dealers and service centres to ensure marketing and service maintenance of the vehicles.
In future, the new production complex will provide for full technological production cycle of truck cabs and bearer frames for MAN trucks, and creation of facilities for production of all range of trailing vehicles.
According to long-term plans, the project provides for creation of facilities for manufacturing of 20,000 units annually.
The launch in the outskirts of Samarkand of a new heavy commercial vehicles production complex will allow to intensify the localization of this type of automotive vehicles in Uzbekistan and to extend the cooperation with one of the world leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles МАN Тruck & Bus AG.
JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan was set up in August 2009 by “Uzavtosanoat” (51 % of shares) and MAN Truck & Bus AG (49% of shares). At present the assembling of MAN vehicles is carried out on the production facilities of Samarkand Automotive Plant SamAvto
MAN Truck & Bus AG is the biggest branch of MAN Corporation and one of the world leading manufacturers of trucks of various modifications and capacity, as well as passenger buses and tourist class coaches.
