In 2013 году Uzbekistan will start manufacturing of a new budget sedan Chevrolet Cobalt for the markets of developing countries, but first of all for Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa. The car premiere is planned for Moscow motor show which is to take place in August-September 2012.

According to preliminary estimate the project cost is more than $136 million. After the launch of the model in 2013 Asaka motor car factory will be able to manufacture up to 100,000 Chevrolet Cobalt sedans per year.

The new model is built on the B-class platform and is equipped with 1.4L EconoFlex four-cylinder engine coupled with 6-step automatic transmission. The car can use ethanol or benzene fuel as well as a mixture of these fuels.

The new Cobalt model to be manufactured in Uzbekistan will differ from the one which is on sale in the US markets. The new sedan Chevrolet Cobalt will be a bit bigger than Aveo, but smaller than Cruze.
