Chevrolet Spark premiere held in Tashkent

The new minicar Chevrolet Spark (Matiz М 300) has been premiered in Tashkent. The sales of Chevrolet Spark in domestic car market started from August 26, 2010.

Chevrolet Spark is to be manufactured with two configurations of DOHC petrol engine: 1.0 litre displacement engine with power output of 68 ph at 6400 rpm and 1.2 litre displacement engine making 81 hp at 6400 rpm.

Large-scale motor roads repair, construction and reconstruction works are being carried out in Uzbekistan

In accordance with the Uzbek government programme on repairs of general use motor roads which have international status, in 2010 the following highways are to be repaired: Tashkent-Kokand-Andijan highway, Navoi-Uchkuduk highway, Guzar-Nukus-Kungrad-Baynau highway, Tashkent-Chinaz-Gulistan highway. Besides, the government allocated 16 billion Uzbek soums (US$ 10.3 million) on improvement of road network in Kokand, Samarkand and Namangan.

GM Uzbekistan is to start production of a new M300 model

From August 2010 Joint venture GM Uzbekistan is starting mainstream production of a new Chevrolet model – SPARK.
By now Asaka- based automotive plant has produced 11 samples of SPARK model, which are being tested.
Total cost of the project is around US$124.455 million. The annual production capacity is 50,000 cars, 40 per cent of which will be exported.

Uzbekistan is going to manufacture Mercedes-Benz buses

Daimler AG (Germany) and stock company “Uzavtosanoat” have signed an agreement on setting up a bus manufacturing joint venture.
The joint venture will be manufacturing under Mercedes-Benz brand name high comfort tourist buses, low floor city buses and midi buses for Uzbek market as well as for export to the neighbouring countries.
